Gateway Introduces New Laptop Line

A new mobile computer line announced today from Gateway introduces what the company calls “its most diverse line of notebook PCs.”A new mobile computer line announced today from Gateway introduces what the company calls “its most diverse line of notebook PCs.”

Unlike other Gateway products, their new mobile computing line will be sold at major retail stores around the United States. The line includes a variety of computers, including thin-and-light models.

“Gateway’s new notebook lineup offers our customers the features they value without a price premium,” said Dan Stevenson, Gateway’s vice president, product marketing. “Our new offerings illustrate our dedication to collaborating with our retailers to develop products with a feature set that we believe will exceed their customers’ expectations.”

The models include:

Gateway 3018GZ – a sleek and attractive design that’s just 1.2-inches thin and weighs only 5.25 pounds, also includes a 14.1-inch WXGA Ultrabright widescreen display.

Gateway 4024GZ and 4540GZ – only 5.5 pounds and measure just over one-inch thin. Integrated 802.11g wireless connectivity allows users to connect to WiFi hot spots at hotels, convention centers and college campuses, as well as to wireless networks at work and home, six-cell Lithium Ion battery that can deliver more than 4 hours of battery life.

Gateway 7422GX and 7320GZ – The systems include either a Mobile Intel Pentium 4 processor or AMD Athlon 64bit 400+ processor, digital media ready with a large hard drive, one IEEE 1394 port and four USB 2.0 ports, and a six-in-one digital media reader.

The 7422GX includes the latest in optical technology: a double-layer DVD+/-R/RW multi-format drive that can store up to 8.5GB of data on double layer DVD media.

The Gateway 7320GZ includes a DVD+/-R/RW multi-format drive; Ultrabright WXGA 15.4-inch widescreen display shows data in a letterbox format.

Graphically, the 7422GX includes ATI Mobility RADEON 9550 graphics, while the 7320GZ boasts Intel Extreme Graphics 3D.
