Figure 8 Wireless Releases Z-Stack and Z-Tools

Software Provides ZigBee Wireless Mesh Network Solutions for Devices Based on Freescale Semiconductor, Chipcon and Atmel 802.15.4 RF Chip Platforms.

Figure 8 Wireless, Inc., the world leader in ZigBee software and firmware announced today the release of its Z-Stack and Z-Tools software for the creation of wireless networked devices based on the ZigBee Alliance’s ZigBee specification at DEMOmobile 2004 in La Jolla, California.

The Z-Tools and Z-Stack platform enables device manufacturers in building controls, industrial controls, automotive controls, telemetry, appliances or home automation to add wireless network connectivity to their products.

“The ZigBee alliance including Figure 8 Wireless and our recently announced chip partners, have worked diligently to develop a wireless device networking standard for virtually any non-PC device,” stated John Morris, Vice President of Marketing for Figure 8 Wireless. “With the release of our Z-Stack and Z-tools product today at DEMOmobile 2004, ZigBee networking is available immediately to any OEM or software developer and ready for market.”

“The industry has been watching ZigBee develop over the last couple of years,” said Chris Shipley Executive Producer of the DEMO conferences. “As world class OEMs like Honeywell, Invensys, Siemens, Motorola, Philips, Atmel, Freescale, Chipcon and others became active in the alliance, it became clear to us that ZigBee will become the next wave in machine-to-machine connectivity. Figure 8 Wireless’ strong software offering coupled with its announced agreements with current 802.15.4 chip providers made them a natural choice to launch with us here at DEMOmobile. They’re definitely the new leader in the device networking space.”

DEMOmobile and its sister event DEMO, held each February, serve as the world’s pre-eminent technology launch events. Past DEMO launches have included products from IBM, Microsoft, Palm, Handspring, E*Trade among others. Last year’s DEMOmobile show garnered 163 million media impressions worldwide. This year’s event will be held at The Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines. For more information on this year’s event, visit http://www.demomobile.com
