Following months of bloggers’ casting suggestions and seemingly unfounded rumors, it’s been announced who will star in the upcoming Facebook movie. Jesse Eisenberg will play Mark Zuckerberg, and lead roles have also gone to Justin Timberlake and Andrew Garfield.

Eisenberg, who is perhaps best known for his work in the critically acclaimed 2005 film The Squid and the Whale, will appear on the big screen again in nine days in Zombieland. Given that the zombie movie stars Woody Harrelson and Bill Murray, it’s likely to raise his profile quite a bit.
Timberlake, on the other hand, is already a star, but this may count as his first significant acting role. Variety reports that he will play Sean Parker, the founder of Napster.
Finally, the role of Eduardo Saverin, a cofounder of Facebook, has gone to Garfield. He’s previously appeared in two episodes of Doctor Who, and plays a part in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, as well.
So it appears that Michael Cera and Shia LaBeouf, who were at times said to be the two actors most likely to play Mark Zuckerberg, either didn’t want or didn’t get the role. But if Facebook fans are worried about a lack of recognizable faces attached to this movie, it may comfort them to know that Aaron Sorkin, David Fincher, and Kevin Spacey are still onboard as writer, director, and executive producer, respectively.
