Explorer Does Not Show Contents of C: Drive

Question: Problem – I’ve got one that is really annoying and can’t find how to get rid of it. I’ve had it once before on a different machine, a while ago. Windowa ME when opening Explorer, the left hand side where you would normally see my computer, C: drive, etc., is grayed out and totally blank.
Any ideas?

Carey’s Answer:

Hi Richard,

In all my years, I’ve never seen or heard of this happening before. However, Windows ME does have a wonderful System Restore feature that allows you take your computer back in time to a date when it was last working properly. You can find System Restore by click Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore.

Is your C: accessible if you double-click the My Computer icon?

Do you have antivirus software running and do you keep it updated?

Those are only things I can think of and I hope one of them helps you.

Thanks for writing,
Carey
