Enhancements to Mac OS X Knowledge Management System

Near-Time Flow Suite Enhanced with Weblog Support, Secure Collaboration, and Improved Content Publishing Options.

Near-Time released Near-Time Flow 1.1, and the early access version of the Near-Time Relay collaboration server. These releases fully round out the Near-Time suite, bringing improved flexibility, usability, and security to the leading standards based content and knowledge management system available for Mac OS X Panther.

Flow 1.1 adds Weblog publishing capabilities with APIs for Blogger and MetaWeblog and the ability to quickly post any page or selected text to a Weblog no matter where it is stored in Flow. Flow adds an option for users to customize their output, allowing them to integrate documents from Flow with other applications, including existing content and knowledge management systems. Customizable stylesheets enable users to gain more control over output published from Flow into HTML.. Version 1.1 also adds SSL-level security and enables full use of the Near-Time Relay collaboration server.

Building on the success of the Near-Time.net service, Relay places all the services required for Flow-based collaboration neatly behind the corporate firewall. Relay is a store-and-forward engine that enables reliable and secure message delivery whether collaborating users are on-line simultaneously or not, forwarding the messages across networks as necessary. Relay also offers a rich set of management tools to support the configuration and maintenance of Flow within the enterprise.

“Near-Time Flow is designed to improve people’s connection with the information lifecycle,” said Reid Conrad, president and CEO of Near-Time, Inc. “Our new releases help broaden that connection. Flow 1.1 extends the depth of output that Flow provides, making it an excellent choice for web designers and bloggers. And with Relay, enterprises can have their teams work together within their firewall and fully control the Flow experience.”

Built upon a standards-based architecture, Flow provides essential information integration capabilities for individuals and workgroups alike. Standards enable Flow users to access, manage, and repurpose content across the spectrum of private and public information. For instance, users can repurpose a Web log or news feed for an internal project, or a group of individuals can collaborate on content to be published on the Internet. Supported standards include XML, HTML, FTP, WebDav, SMTP, iDisk, RSS, and Web logs (via Atom). Flow’s reach is the culmination of the worldwide Web.

Near-Time Flow 1.1 is available for download at http://www.near-time.com. Near-Time Flow licenses are available individually or in multi-user packages. They are priced at $99.95 for a single license, $895.99 for 10 licenses, and $3,995.95 for 50 licenses. The annual basic services fee for a Near-Time.net subscription is $29.95 and is available free of charge to Flow customers through August 31, 2004. Additionally, customers may host the Near-Time Relay Server for an additional license fee. Near-Time Relay can be licensed for $395 for up to ten users and $995 for unlimited use, per server.
