It’s nice to know that testosterone is alive and well as the Hooters restaurant chain just opened their 400th restaurant in Switzerland marking their 34th store outside the U.S. The sports bar chain known for their love of owls, as noted on their logo, opened the store on June 26th.
Hooters picked up a habit of donating some of the sales from the opening of a new location to various charitable organizations. Right now, the Tsunami Relief Fund will gain the benevolent, owl-loving restaurant chain. The amount came up to $10,000 sfrs.
According to their press release, Hooters operates in 16 countries including Brazil, China, Canada, Venezuela, England and Singapore. The company also said they’ve got another store in Peru slated to open next month. The chain also has stores in 46 states.
Executive Vice President of Franchising John Weber said in the statement, “Our main focus right now is on franchising into new international markets, which fit well with our concept.”
The Hooters chain started in Clearwater, Florida in 1983 with a beach theme environment. The despite remarkably tasty chicken wings and other food, Hooters best-known attribute remains the Hooters Girls. Hooters really built their business around having attractive woman, mostly college girls, waiting tables. They were tight tank tops and short orange shorts.
Hooters ran into problems some years ago by some men when they were taken to court over hiring practices. The men claimed Hooters violated their civil rights because the chain only hired women. It was decided however that men generally didn’t look as good in the short shorts.
This proves, contrary to some marketers’ notions, retrosexuality is alive and well and metrosexuals will simply have to wait a bit longer as testosterone continues to flow all over the world.
