Silicon Valley isn’t the only place where the Web 2.0 digerati can have fun.
In fact, Dion Hinchcliffe, Stowe Boyd, and I have set out to prove that. After prolonged virtual relationships, we finally realized that we actually are neighbors in the Washington D.C. area – and we mean to take advantage of it.
We are heading up an effort to gather folks interested in Web 2.0 – appropriately named DC 2.0. Our first event is set for March 15th. It will largely focus on giving people the opportunity to hobnob, connect, and network with one another, with the intent to discover what is happening locally and elsewhere around the Web 2.0 meme. In addition, we will be holding a panel discussion and are offering the ability for three local companies to demo their software.

In speaking with Stowe last week, we chatted about the fact that there really is no one covering the Web 2.0 scene here in DC. With that in mind, a larger (and more personal) goal with DC 2.0 will be for me to begin to bring a voice to the greater Washington D.C. Web 2.0 community. Over the next months, I hope to begin to profile and / or interview Web 2.0 like companies and investors in the area (the interviews will match similar work I’ve done in the past).
