Computer Sciences Corporation has signed a global IT applications management services agreement with Sun Microsystems.
The five-year contract is valued at $360 million.
Under the agreement, CSC will assume responsibility for the provision of all applications development and support services for Sun’s global operations in the U.S., Europe and Asia Pacific. CSC will manage Sun’s full portfolio of internal business systems applications, including finance, manufacturing, messaging, enterprise resource planning, customer relationship management, data warehousing and other general technology software.
“We are pleased to enter into this agreement with Sun,” said CSC Chairman and CEO Van B. Honeycutt. “Our broad experience in global enterprise applications integration and maintenance positions us to deliver results that will help Sun achieve its business goals.”
“It is no surprise that flexibility is one of the greatest competitive weapons in the IT industry,” said Sun Chief Information Officer Bill Vass. “CSC will help us achieve this nimbleness and ensure that Sun’s IT infrastructure is run as effectively as any company on the planet. We will operate at lower cost and with more flexibility to respond to market dynamics. As a platform-neutral, global integrator that we have worked closely with for two decades, Sun has a high level of confidence in CSC’s abilities.”
“The depth and breadth of our experience in applications support, combined with our ability to operate seamlessly around the world, make CSC ideally suited to help Sun achieve transformational results,” said Mary Jo Morris, president of CSC’s Global Transformation Services business unit. “We look forward to supporting Sun in this capacity and expanding our capabilities to deploy and support the Sun Java Enterprise System.”
