Options for adding content from Yahoo as well as contextual advertising for site publishers in its network recently became available to Yahoo Publisher Network users; and they are expanding the beta service to more publishers.
The beta service being offered by Yahoo provides site publishers with more content options while helping Yahoo further increase the exposure of its brand name. Loren Baker at Search Engine Journal posted about the latest update to Yahoo Publisher Network:
The marriage (or side affair) between Yahoo Publisher Network and Yahoo! Developer Network is one of Yahoo’s first steps to “add new publisher-facing products within the portal and part of a greater effort to make it easier for publishers to quickly and easily find any of Yahoo’s tools in one designated area.”
The “Content” tab now provides set-up guides for:
-Y!Q
-RSS Feeds (via My Yahoo)
-Open applications to create products (via Yahoo! Developer Network)
And now information on applying Yahoo Maps to publisher sites is now found under the Yahoo Developer Network.
Yahoo’s Publisher website cited demand from its publishers in noting it will open up to the broader community of publishers. That opening also seems like one its advertisers would demand as well. They want more exposure for their campaigns, and Yahoo needs to broaden its network to boost what it can collect in advertising fees.
