CA Delivers Same-day Support for Windows XP SP2 Across Unicenter, BrightStor, eTrust, and AllFusion

Unicenter, BrightStor, eTrust and AllFusion Solutions Enable Customers to Immediately Capitalize on Security Enhancements.

Computer Associates International today announced that it is delivering same-day support for Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) across its Unicenter, BrightStor, eTrust and AllFusion product lines, enabling customers to immediately capitalize on security enhancements critical to safeguarding enterprise IT environments.

“CA customers who have made a significant commitment to Windows XP want to install, manage, back up and secure the applications developed for Service Pack 2 to address a variety of critical security concerns,” said Yogesh Gupta, senior vice president and chief technology officer at CA. “By fully supporting the Service Pack on the day of its release, CA is providing customers with the tools they need to manage the implementation and use of the Service Pack across their enterprises.”

CA’s same day support for SP2 encompasses the following areas:

* Operations Management – CA is making it easy for customers to upgrade their desktop systems to Windows XP Service Pack 2 with the Unicenter desktop management and software distribution solutions necessary to execute immediate, resource-efficient installation across the enterprise. In addition, Unicenter Network and Systems Management will enable the new release to be discovered and monitored out of the box for rapid problem identification and resolution.

* Storage Management – CA is enabling customers to continue to manage and protect storage environments hardened using Windows XP with SP2. CA’s BrightStor storage management software extends the Windows security enhancements to help protect data during all phases of the backup processes including disaster recovery situations.

* Security Management – CA earlier announced support for SP2 in its popular eTrust security management software. The eTrust products work with SP2’s Windows Security Center to ensure that desktop virus protection is kept activated and up to date, while helping users keep the Windows Firewall optimally configured.

* Life Cycle Management – CA’s AllFusion life cycle management solutions automate the process of upgrading applications and systems to Service Pack 2, improving efficiency and quality, as well as ensuring a faster, problem-free migration.

“Windows XP Service Pack 2 enables today’s security-conscious IT organizations to more effectively protect their desktop computing environments,” said Neil Charney, director of the Windows Product Group at Microsoft Corp. “CA’s support of this release is indicative of its long-term commitment to the Windows platform and is of considerable value to our mutual customers.”
