Rocketinfo has added powerful new tools for searching weblogs to its popular RocketNews search engine.
Commenting on the new features, Rocketinfo Director of Research Martin Thornell said: “We’ve been offering weblog searching on RocketNews for some time, but we really wanted to improve the search experience. By categorizing the blogs in our database and allowing users to specify that they want results from particular types of blogs or blogs from a particular geographic region, we’re providing the ability to create tightly focused searches that produce the results people want.”
RocketNews was one of the earliest search engines to offer the ability to search weblogs and the company is raising the bar by offering powerful parametric controls. In addition to standard Boolean search tools, visitors can refine their blog searches by limiting the results by date, geographic location, such as North America, Europe or Asia and content type, such as technology blogs, business blogs or health blogs.
There has been a rapid increase in the number, popularity and influence of weblogs in the past 12 months. Weblogs are having a profound impact on politics and technology, and are influencing the way traditional media outlets gather and report the news. Marketers and public relations experts are also eyeing blogs as a powerful way to reach consumers. With the number of blogs expected to exceed 10 million by the end of this year, Rocketinfo expects huge growth in the number of visitors using RocketNews to search for blog entries matching their precise requirements.
