For those with DSLs this will take them to another level on download speeds. Right now Bellsouth offers 3 levels of their high-speed Internet services topping out at 3 Mbps. This new service, do out in the fall will give users even faster access.

Right now the top end in most cases is 3 Mbps for just about everything. For a little extra, some of the cable companies offer a higher end service running about $60 for home users that grants 6 Mbps.

“The introduction of a broadband service with downstream speeds up to
6Mbps will enhance BellSouth’s robust portfolio of broadband options,” said Michael Bowling, vice president of data product management for BellSouth. “We are committed to providing customers with the greatest choice and value as they make their broadband decisions. And with this new service, we now offer the widest range of broadband options in the market.”

This new venture also has a business application too. The FastAccess services from Bellsouth and for that matter any of the high speed services providers offer real advantages to the user. Download and upload speeds are much better. The ability to utilize streaming functions is much greater since one doesn’t have to worry about getting kicked off the phone by a call or something else. The other big thing is for those of us who play online games, the experience will get better than ever, especially when combines it with a new 64-bit, dual core processor and a new video card. The business applications will allow users to send and receive documents, video, audio and all other files might be needed will go up and down much faster.
