Ask Jeeves To Revamp Search Pages With Less Advertising

Now that Ask Jeeves has acknowledged they are going ahead with their own search advertising service, in order to celebrate the switch, apparently Ask is going to revamp the appearance of their search engine result pages in order to reflect these changes.

Ask Jeeves To Revamp Search Pages With Less Advertising According to a report featured on SearchEngineRoundtable, Ask will make some changes to their result presence including displaying fewer paid links, Improvements to consumer (shopping) search, and an increased emphasis on direct advertising. One of the reasons as to why these changes are being implemented is because in the past, Ask developers feel they had too many ads cluttering up the current format of the search result pages.

As indicated, these changes are a clear sign that Ask is embracing the concept of providing advertisements from their newly launched ad service. The Ask Jeeves blog details potential benefits to using Ask’s Sponsored Listings service:

Premium placement on Ask Jeeves and its syndication network (only a 13% average audience duplication between Ask Jeeves and other major search engines)

Low spend minimum that enables both large and small advertisers to purchase search advertising via a self-service system

Increased visibility into campaign performance

Advertisers can launch a new campaign in 1-2 hours

Expect the aforementioned changes to begin appearing on Ask’s search results starting tomorrow.
