Ask Jeeves Starts Blogging

The Ask Jeeves search engine has started a corporate style blog. It appears to be aimed at Ask Jeeves employees, customers and search industry insiders.

I did not find any links to the blog from the Ask Jeeves front page, about section or press area.

The first blog post was by Ask Jeeves Data Engineering Manager Erik Collier. He begins with …

“So, we’re finally settling in from our HQ move in December, and look what we found between server racks 12 & 13: The Ask Jeeves Blog!

When I was invited to post the first entry for Ask Jeeves, I agreed right away. I’ve been pushing for this ever since they caught me desperately trying to deliver my engineering projects on time while also keeping my feed aggregator numbers low (you know the little number next to the feed title that makes you feel like a neglectful parent when it starts to climb too high).

But, I’m actually more of an avid blog reader (is that a bleader?) who dabbles in photo blogging, so I’ll just do a short entry about the new office and show you some pics. Check back in the next couple of days for more newsworthy updates than mine.”

It is clear that Ask Jeeves didn’t want to be left behind as a major search engine without a blog. Google, Yahoo and MSN all started blogging way back in 2004. 🙂
