Yesterday, at an event in Las Vegas, Apple revealed Final Cut Studio, a software package that’s being called “The Production Box Set”. The package contains four specific pieces of software; each designed to function as a whole, giving amateur moviemakers everything they need to produce quality movies and DVDs.
The package comes as either an upgrade or a stand-alone purchase, with prices reflecting each level of acquisition. Complete purchases of Final Cut Studio feature an MSRP of $1299, while upgrades cost between $499 and $699. While these prices may seem high, those who do buy Apple’s production studio in a box will receive the following pieces:
Final Cut Pro 5
Soundtrack Pro
Motion 2
DVD Studio Pro 4
Final Cut Studio promises full editing capabilities, including full support for high definition recordings. When you include the sound editor, ability to render graphics and DVD export-ability, it’s easy to see why FCS features such an attractive price point.
However, if you want Hollywood ability in the privacy of your home, Final Cut Pro offers everything you need, provided you own or are willing to purchase a Mac computer. Sorry Windows users.
