America Online’s interest in the blogosphere continues as the company announced an agreement with virtual blog-pressure cuff Intelliseek, accepting daily blog data and tend analysis from the popular blog search engine BlogPulse to highlight the daily buzz.
Under the agreement, AOL will feature Intelliseek blog data, statistic, trend charts, and blog entries on its AOL network. The information provided by Intelliseek will update AOL visitors in real time, allowing a continual check on recent blogospheric buzz.
Included in the daily feeds will be top blogs and top blog posts, top news stories, the news sources being most frequently cited by bloggers, top website links provided by bloggers, as well as the top personalities and phrases being discussed by bloggers.
Access to BlogPulse Newswire and BlogPulse Spotlight will also be featured.
“The addition of daily blog data from BlogPulse advances AOL’s mission of being one of the leading destinations Web users visit to find out what’s happening in the World and on the Internet, and what people are talking about. The blog trend data we will be receiving from BlogPulse will keep visitors to the AOL network connected to and informed about the fast-growing blogging community,” said Bill Schreiner, Vice President, AOL Community.
The deal puts AOL in a position to provide information collected from an index of over 17 million blogs, gathered from Intelliseek’s daily analysis of blog posts.
As part of the agreement, AOL also wins access to BlogPulse’s graphical trend creation tool, which highlights how hot certain topics are over a period of time.
