The tech giant’s initiative doesn’t halt at news. Google envisions that this ‘preferred sites’ concept could be extended to other domains like movie reviews, sports outcomes, and even blogs. Google’s support page clarifies that this feature ensures relevance, stating: “results from your preferred sites will show up more often when they’re relevant to your search query.”

User Participation: A Double-edged Sword?

While the feature seems promising, there are a few caveats. To utilize this experimental feature, one needs to be logged into their Google Accounts, which might deter some users. Furthermore, the average user might not be inclined to spend a few moments adjusting settings. Even seasoned search enthusiasts might find it simpler to use search commands like “site:imdb.com braveheart” rather than adjusting preferences.
