AI Generated Website Experiment Criteria
With the aim of entertainment, I intended to conduct an SEO/AI generated article experiment to assess the potential traffic a new website could attract solely from AI-generated content. This experiment involves implementing regular updates and adhering to standard SEO and website design practices.
The very website you are currently visiting serves as the platform for this experiment, with a focus on Artificial Intelligence as its niche.
What was I thinking?
My initial thought process is that after one month of consistently posting 10 AI-related articles per day, the website is likely to experience a gradual increase in daily traffic. The initial website traffic will likely be modest due to the website’s newness and lack of an existing audience. However, with the implementation of SEO best practices, valuable and relevant content, and a targeted audience, the website can expect to gain traction and achieve a reasonable amount of traffic.
Initial Website Configuration
SEO Friendly Desktop Theme and AMP for the Mobile Theme
By using an SEO-friendly theme, the website is more likely to rank higher in search engine results, increasing its visibility to potential visitors. AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages) implementation will improve mobile loading speed, leading to a better user experience and potentially higher search engine rankings.
Caching with page and object caching
Caching helps improve website performance by reducing load times, which can positively impact user experience and search engine rankings.
Analytics with Jetpack and Google Analytics
Analytical data will provide valuable insights into user behavior, popular content, and potential areas for improvement, helping the website creator optimize their strategies.
Yoast Premium for SEO
Using Yoast Premium with all fields filled out will optimize on-page SEO elements, such as meta titles, descriptions, and keyword usage, leading to improved search engine rankings.
AI-related content from various sources
By creating content based on AI-related Google Alerts, questions from AI-related Reddit subreddits, and topics of interest to the website creator, the website can cater to a specific niche audience.
Website sitemap submission to search engines
Submitting the website’s sitemap to major search engines (Google, Bing/Yahoo, and Yandex) will ensure that search engine crawlers can discover and index the website’s content efficiently, enhancing its visibility in search results.

AI Generated Website Experiment Hypothesis
Given the efforts made in implementing SEO best practices and regularly posting relevant content, the website is likely to experience a gradual increase in traffic over the course of the first month. However, the actual traffic figures can vary significantly depending on the quality and appeal of the content, the targeting of the audience, and the effectiveness of promotional efforts. As such, it is challenging to provide an exact estimation without concrete data. Nonetheless, if the strategies are effectively executed, the website could potentially receive from twenty to one hundred visitors per day by the end of the first month.
AI Generated Website Experiment Results
Traffic statistics tracking can vary depending on the service you use. I utilized two different platforms for tracking.
Website Visitors
Jetpack Stats
According to Jetpack the website averaged less than 20 visitors per day.
Daily:
Weekly:
Note: Week 1 – 68 Posts, Week 2 – 91 Posts, Week 3 – 59 Posts, Week 4 – 77
Google Analytics
According the Analytics the website averaged 5.7 visits per day over a 28 day period.
Traffic Acquisition
It’s worth noting that traffic acquisition was primarily “Direct” with the second highest being organic. Direct traffic according to Analytics is either someone visiting a website directly in the browser or from an untracked source. Organic traffic is from search results or paid advertising (I didn’t pay for any advertising).
Organic is the coveted result but traffic this source only accounted for 20 visitors over the month.
Website Traffic Over Time
The below graphic shows a study increase of traffic over time.
Search Console Index Results
Google Search Console
Bing / Yahoo Search Console
Yandex Search Console
Note: Yandex only indexed 35 of my posts stating various issues with the rest.
Final Thoughts On An AI Generated Website
Based on the data, it appears that creating a successful website using AI-generated content is feasible over time, provided you maintain your focus. However, achieving this requires implementing certain marketing strategies to obtain backlinks for your website and staying up-to-date with news-related content.
Personally, I do not intend to continue producing 10 articles per day or rely solely on AI-generated articles, as it lacks enjoyment. Nevertheless, if someone manages to automate the entire process, wherein an AI creates titles, content formatted with SEO standards, tags, excerpts, meta descriptions, and inserts outbound and inbound links, we could envision a self-sustaining web platform.
