UPDATE 2: It looks as though Google waited until we actually landed on the Moon to update their logo. Well played Google, well played.
UPDATE 1: Well it seems Google has heard our complaints, as they’ve updated their homepage with the following logo. Anyone else think it’s a little late?
What do you think of the logo? Tell us.
ORIGINAL ARTICLE: Forty years ago today Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin forever changed mankind with their historic walk on the lunar surface. With today being the 40th anniversary, of quite possibly the single greatest moment in modern history, you would think a lot sites would be honoring the event, right?
Well, currently we’ve found two: YouTube and Bing. (If you know of more – let us know)
Bing has changed their daily background image to feature a shot of the Moon.
YouTube has changed their logo, which now includes “The Eagle” and a piece of the Moon.
You might be asking yourself, “Where is the Google logo?” Well your not alone, Twitterers have noticed the absence of the Google logo as well.
Are you surprised Google doesn’t have a Moon Landing themed logo? Tell us.
One Twitterer makes a very good point about how Google honors some of the weirdest events… but fails to honor the 40th anniversary of the Moon landing. Anyone remember back in June when they honored the 25th anniversary of Tetris?
Another Twitterer even points out that Google decided to do a logo for YouTube… but not for the main Google logo. Anyone else find that kind of odd?
What do you think about Google missing the boat on the Apollo 11 themed logo? Let us know what you think.
