Quest Software today outlined its support for Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2005, which is an integral component of Microsoft’s Dynamic Systems Initiative.

MOM 2005 helps reduce the complexity of application management for IT professionals through simplified deployment and ease of use, and providing next-generation application knowledge.

As Microsoft’s Global Independent Software Vendor Partner of the Year for FY04, Quest Software offers a variety of products and programs in support of Microsoft’s IT operational efficiency initiative. Examples of Quest product integration with MOM 2005 include:

— InTrust, Quest’s product for secure auditing and policy compliance, helps IT leverage MOM by synchronizing events and alerts across Windows and heterogeneous platforms.

— The Quest Spotlight family of products (Spotlight on Active Directory, Spotlight on Exchange, Spotlight on Windows and Spotlight on SQL Server) allows administrators to quickly diagnose and resolve the causes of MOM alerts. These products are available as MOM Troubleshooting Management Packs.

— Quest MessageStats complements MOM’s day-to-day operational Exchange reporting by providing management reports for longer term e-mail usage analysis, policy definition and capacity planning.

“We see MOM 2005 becoming the de facto standard for Windows infrastructure monitoring, and are pleased to offer several products that leverage its capabilities,” said Darren Mar-Elia, chief technology officer for the Windows Management group at Quest Software. “MOM 2005 moves the industry another step forward in terms of managing the Windows-based enterprise, and Quest’s products complement MOM 2005 with depth of functionality in several specific areas.”

“Customers are asking for solutions that not only provide excellent management of the Windows environment, but also extend to meet their heterogeneous challenges so they can reduce cost and complexity,” said David Hamilton, director of the Windows and Enterprise Management Division at Microsoft Corp. “We’re delighted to see Quest Software extending MOM 2005 to deliver an integrated solution — adding to its strong historical capabilities in managing messaging (Exchange) and database (SQL Server) environments.”
