Navel Gazing At LinkedIn

Share

It may be worth mentioning Barack Obama may be the first President with an active LinkedIn account. It’s a bit surreal to look at what is essentially an online resume and see listed as current occupation: President at United States of America.

Everything’s in first person as though he maintains the account himself:

Obama's Linkedin Profile

He lists as his interests basketball, writing, spending time with his kids. Hopefully they also include economics and nominee vetting and he just neglected to mention them. For all the personal touch to the President’s LinkedIn profile, and for how accessible it makes him seem, he’s currently not open to introductions or InMail. You can join his LinkedIn group or subscribe to his RSS feed if you desire. National security and all that.

Viewers of Obama’s profile, says LinkedIn, also viewed Rudy Giuliani’s, John McCain’s, and Hillary Clinton’s, all of whom are either still running for president or haven’t bothered to update since their losses. They all still state their current position as “candidate,” and Hillary’s still has herself listed as Senator from New York, not Secretary of State “at” the United States of America. Maybe she’s still miffed about her consolation prize.

Sarah Palin still thinks she’s the VP nominee. Either that or, like the others, respective campaigns just left their candidate’s LinkedIn profile in the back seat with the victory confetti.

At least Ron Paul appears aware that he’s no longer a candidate. He does still lists himself as a doctor, and says he’s delivered 4,000 babies over the past 40 years. He takes an interesting approach when describing his stint as a Congressman; instead of listing the things he’s voted for, he lists the big things he’s voted against.

Profiles for George W. Bush (President at US Government and Government Administration Professional) appear not to be serious or active entries.
