"Manager Defined Spend" spotted in AdWords

Shimon Sandler found a little something extra in his AdWords that allows for extending management of multiple accounts without needing a separate service agreement for each.

MDS, or Manager Defined Spend, works in a similar fashion to the familiar My Client Center for AdWords. Shimon Sandler pointed out the differences:

the big difference is that the advertiser has the ability to create, modify & apply budgets without the need for a separate Service Agreement for each account. One Service Agreement, and then your Google rep just needs to create the child account shells.

It will look the same as your existing MCC, although there will be a button to the right that says, “Modify Budget”

Barry Schwartz found out from Google that the MDS feature has been around for almost a year, but limited to a select few AdWords clients. Here’s what Google told him:

Manager Defined Spend (MDS) is a new, simple way for My Client Center (MCC) account users to better control the budgets of their AdWords accounts. It’s been available for about a year for advertisers who meet the eligibility requirements, and as you can imagine, this is particularly helpful for agencies and SEMs who manage multiple AdWords accounts on their end clients’ behalf. If advertisers decide to move some or all of their managed accounts to MDS, they are able to create and modify those accounts’ budgets instantaneously via the MCC dashboard. They’ll be charged for these accounts with one Manager Order-level monthly invoice, eliminating the need to constantly renegotiate contracts.

Streamlining processes for bigger customers is always a good idea in business, because loyal, repeat business is more valuable over time than new, one-time business.
