“It’s too late, why even try? After all, the holiday season is upon us and no one will buy my widgets anyway. I set high goals but, after all, with less than a month to go how can I hope to achieve them now?”
If that sounds like your “inner voice” this time of year, take heart! I have several keys that might just help you meet those goals before the end of the year and a resource to get a strong start in 2004.
1. Put together a High-End Holiday Promotion
At the holidays people spend money. Lots of money. It’s not too late to put together a unique package of products to pull in those holiday dollars.
And don’t be bashful.
It’s much easier to get 10 sales at $1,000 each than 1,000 sales at $10 each. Put together a high value offer and let your previous customers know about it. You might just make more money in December than you have all year!
2. Use Offline Advertising
Often online merchants forget advertising opportunities offline. Everything from display ads in a local paper to television ads are available and can create a flurry of activity to your site. Strapped for cash? Do some free press. A great press release might just get a site featured on national television-and results in thousands of dollars in sales.
3. Go For Volume
Email marketing is far from dead and is one of the most cost effective ways to get the job done. A well planned campaign to a relatively small list can drive tens-of-thousands of visitors to a site in just hours. You can see the actual data I put together on one such campaign here:

A targeted campaign with a solid holiday promotion can bring in more money in 24 hours than some sites make in a month-or even a year.
Put one or more of these promotional ideas together and you will likely see a huge flood of sales in December-and be well positioned for great goals in 2004.
And speaking of your goals for 2004.I have put together a resource to help you begin thinking about that as well. You can download it here:
