Glitches Surface In Google Checkout

It appears that the good people of Google may have a bit more fine-tuning to do on one of their newer products. Users have reported experiencing a few glitches as they tried to take advantage of Google Checkout. Long delays are also trying the patience of some.

A specific complaint is “that orders through Google Checkout have been canceled without justification,” according to Jonathan Berr of TheStreet.com. “The problems with the payment processing feature underscore the weakness with Google’s product development outside of search,” Berr continued.

An article on PC Advisor relayed the words of “GoogleCheckoutPro,” a Google employee who can be found on the Google Checkout Merchants Forum. “I know there’s frustration about the delays due to the order review process,” the Googler wrote. “At times it may seem we are overly cautious, especially when an order from someone you know personally is being held up.”

The company isn’t leaving users out in the cold, thought. “We are working as fast as possible to fix this issue,” the post continued. “The good news is that we have some upcoming changes that will both speed up the review process and make it more effective at filtering out the bad guys.”

Those changes seem well-timed. The PC Advisor article stated that “users of this high-profile service, which was launched in late June, say Google needs to speed up the review process and improve its review-related customer service and communications. Otherwise, Checkout, which observers have characterised as a potential killer’ of rival service PayPal, risks failure, some warn.”
