Dell launched a Dimension desktop system with expanded multimedia options and high-end performance in a chassis less than 13 inches tall and 4 inches wide.
To give customers greater flexibility in how they use and enjoy digital content, Dell offers the Media Reader Solution, including an 8-in-1 memory-card reader and front and rear-mounted 1394 ports to enable fast and simple digital content transfer. The Media Reader Solution allows customers to easily access digital data from eight different types of memory cards used in devices such as digital cameras and PDAs. The 1394 ports allow video producers or multimedia artists to connect digital video cameras to the 4700C and transfer video footage for editing.
Designed For Performance
The Dimension 4700C incorporates the latest technology to deliver the performance and capacity of a higher-end PC as well as realistic 3D video and sound. The 4700C supports the Intel 915G Express chipset, Pentium 4 5xx series processors, PCI Express technology and dual-channel DDR2 shared memory to deliver strong performance for editing digital photos, creating videos, listening to digital music, e-mailing and Web browsing.
Users can store their digital content on a 250GB Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive, and use the DVD+/-RW drive to burn double-layer discs holding the equivalent of two two-hour movies. In addition, the integrated graphics controller provides excellent visual quality and support for flexible display options. For even higher levels of 3D performance, customers can add the optional 64MB ATI Radeon X300 SE graphics card in the x16 PCI Express card slot.
For $999 the Dimension 4700C features a Pentium 4 520 (2.8GHz, 800MHz, 1MB L2 Cache) processor, 512MB DDR2 400MHz shared memory, 40GB SATA hard drive, 16x DVD-ROM drive, 17-inch (16-inch viewable) monitor and Microsoft Windows XP Home. The same configuration with the Media Reader Solution is $1,059.
