Gmail Todo List

If you live in Gmail, and can’t stand the idea of going anywhere else, Devin has a method of creating a “To Do” list in Gmail.

Read his post for the explanation, but it involves creating a “Todo” label and filter for emails sent by yourself, to yourself, and just sending yourself an email every time you think of something that has to get done. When you need to read the list, just click the label in your sidebar. When you finish doing something, just read it to drop the number of undone todos.

I’d got another way to extend this: Set the filter to apply the “Todo” label when you get emails from your mobile phone. Then, when you’re on the go and need to remind yourself of something, text message your Gmail account, and you’ll come back to your computer with a nice reminder waiting for you in Gmail. The only thing better than this would be if Google had a Labs product that added a proper Todo list to Gmail. And I’ll bet you someone at the Plex has been thinking about giving it a shot.
