Good Pitch, Bad Pitch

Todd Defren, principal of SHIFT Communications, has launched a new blog he’s calling The Good Pitch Blog.

He tips his cap to Kevin Dugan and Richard Laermer and their Bad Pitch Blog, noting, “You are free to suggest that the idea was “ripped off” from those guys, but if things go as I intend, our paths will diverge soon enough.”

Kevin and Richard have insisted they will spotlight good pitches as well as bad, but I don’t have any issues with Defren’s entry. As he states in his inaugural post:

There is no shortage of negativity about the PR game. Some influential journo-bloggers have even questioned our long-term viability. But I don’t buy it. I see bright, creative, thoughtful people hard at work at our shop each day. I am sure that the same is true in all quality PR firms. So my gut tells me that our brightest era lies ahead.

Defren wants to shine the light on excellent work, of which there is plenty that gets little attention. You gotta applaud that optimistic, positive point of view.

Defren already hosts the PR Squared blog, which I’ve had among my feeds for a while.

I love The Bad Pitch Blog, and agree wholeheartedly with Kevin and Richard’s intent. I think I’ll also love The Good Pitch Blog. They both serve a need and fill a void in the PR profession.
