The AFP reports that Bill Gates told a Microsoft conference in Lisbon that he has so much money, the IRS needs a seperate, special computer just for his financial information.
I’m sure he was just speaking metaphorically. The IRS surely has a massive distributed computer system, and specifically creating a seperate computer for one fortune, no matter how big it may be ($47 billion at last count) would be inneficient and throw the whole system out of whack.
“My tax return in the United States has to be kept on a special computer because their normal computers can’t deal with the numbers,” he said at a Microsoft conference held in Lisbon.
“So I am constantly getting these notices telling me I haven’t paid something when really it is just on the wrong computer,” he added in comments broadcast on television.
“Then they will send me another notice telling me how bad they feel they that they sent me a notice that was a mistake,” he said
That the IRS sends him notices, that they make huge mistakes only massively multiplied by the size of his bank account, of that I have no doubt.

Bill said that his fortune was too large and pendulous for the tax office computers. Apparently they just run screaming when they see his bulky dossiers.
The tax office have had to splash out on a special computer that can accomodate all those 00000000s without squealing like a pig.
Sheesh I wish I had his problems.
Bill did not reveal what operating system his special computer uses. Maybe he should help the tax office out by ordering that the next version of Vista should be able to handle his $US47 billion fortune. Of course they might have to wait a while for it.
