IT Management Options Grow In China

A new report will focus on four aspects of China’s now-burgeoning information technology service market.

The firm Research and Markets will begin offering its insights on China with a new IT Products and Service report. The Annual Analysis Report on Chinese IT Service Market (2005) report will focus on four areas, the company notes in a statement:

•  market size (2004) and five-year forecast,
•  analysis of key success factors for specialized services and markets,
•  analysis of customer demands and industry trends,
•  and analysis of strategies by major IT service providers

The market for IT services in China in 2004 was worth over $3 billion USD. The report sees a compound annual growth rate of 26.4 percent in IT consulting, just over development and integration services.

Analysts for the report have taken external investment into account. Much has been made in the US press about the efforts by the big three search engine companies in gaining access to China’s growing base of Internet users. Those analysts see an impact being made on IT services in China:

A new round of IT construction from foreign enterprises will begin. In the next couple of years, the experience of foreign IT companies will be introduced into China as a number of international enterprises rush into the country; specifically, the industries that have been restricted by the strict rules of entering the market until China is admitted into WTO.

These enterprises include telecommunication companies, finance districts, retail chains, etc Since the efficient operation of these industries rely heavily on IT support systems, a unique market opportunity will be created; not only for system integration firms but also for IT management firms.
