Nobody’s going to get in trouble with this one. It’s foolproof. PrivateTel, a self-described “privacy-oriented” telecommunications company has launched Click-and-Connect, a pay-per-minute phone service designed specifically for chat and online dating services-and not in any way for use by the mafia.
The concept is relatively simple. Would-be lovers steamily chatting online will now have the option of setting up a private phone line exclusively for each other via Internet telephony technology. The thought behind the service is provide untraceable calling for the chatters-untraceable except by the wife when she checks out the credit card bill.
Pricing plans are established by website owners on a per-minute basis.
“Click-and-Connect is a transformational technology that adds phone capability to online dating sites and chat rooms. Without revealing their personal phone numbers and other information, users can migrate their discussions from online chat rooms and instant messaging to warmer, more satisfying human connections by phone,” said PrivateTel CEO Pete “Sweet Patooty” Pattullo.
And you have to admit, the phone does get “warmer” after you’ve used it a while.
PrivateTel says their system offers more security than traditional phone service.
“What most people don’t realize is a home phone number can be traced back revealing a home address and social security number. This makes a person vulnerable to identity theft and can create a security risk if a suitor shows up unannounced at your front door,” said Robert Siciliano, whom the company says is a personal security expert-and not the kind of personal security expert you see in the Godfather movies.
Click-and-Connect can be installed with no equipment or software or capital investment, making it an offer you can’t refuse. PrivateTel says the service can be integrated with any Web site, used in a Web-connected desktop application, managed online and integrated with customer and member databases.
