Let’s not forget that it was a ham sandwich that did in Mama Cass. And now two Australian secretaries have lost their jobs after an email catfight that began with a missing one. Oooooh, ham sandwich! (Shaking fist) I’ll get you one day.
Allens Arthur Robinson, one of Sydney’s top law firms, provided the arena for the bout as secretary Katrina Nugent dispatched an all points bulletin email asking for reimbursement from whomever had stolen her lunch.
“Yesterday I put my lunch in the fridge on level 19 which included a packet of ham, some cheese slices and two slices of bread which was going to be for my lunch today,” Ms Nugent said. “Overnight it has gone missing and as I have no spare money to buy another lunch today, I would appreciate being reimbursed for it.”
Melinda Bird, another secretary at the firm, believed Ms. Nugent must have been mistaken about which floor she had left her lunch.
Apparently, nobody talks to Nugent that way, especially not a dumb blonde like Bird.
“Being a brunette doesn’t mean you’re smart, though,” scolded Ms. Bird.
Forgetting she had already gotten personal, Nugent responded with “Let’s not get personal Miss Can’t Keep A Boyfriend.” Hissssss. Reeeeer, Scratch!
It seems the two warring secretaries did little to keep their feud a secret. Forwards of the email catfight swept all over law firms and business throughout Sydney.
“This is magic. You can’t script this sort of stuff,” News.com.au quotes a “high flyer” as saying.
The upper hierarchy at Allens Arthur Robinson didn’t find it amusing, however. The ladies were canned and an announcement was made that anyone distributing the email further would be disciplined.
“Email is a business tool, not a personal messaging system – the use of it in this case was not in any way acceptable, nor is that the way we expect people to treat their work colleagues,” said a spokesman for the firm.
It is still unclear what happened to the sandwich.
