MSN Goes Shopping

MSN and Shopping.com are teaming up, so that MSN Shopping customers will be able to shop from thousands more online merchants.

“By adding Shopping.com’s selection to the new MSN Shopping, we’re providing our site’s visitors with a richer online shopping experience,” said MSN Shopping general manager, Jim Barr.

MSN Goes Shopping The main reason cited in a press release, for MSN choosing Shopping.com is the comprehensiveness of its merchant base. Shopping.com has good relationship with smaller businesses, and MSN feels that this will help it reach a wider range of categories.

“One of the keys to creating a successful product search and comparison shopping service is offering the widest possible selection of merchants,” said Barr. “Shopping.com brings us quality online retailers that our shoppers demand.”

Shopping.com’s merchant network boasts 80% of the top 300 retailers in the world, while covering over 10,000 merchants from around the globe.

“Our strategic partners value the breadth and depth of our global shopping catalog,” said Shopping.com CEO Lorrie Norrington. “In turn, our merchants benefit from the addition of millions of potential new customers who view their products online.”

Back in June, it was announced that Shopping.com is being acquired by eBay. That deal is expected to reach completion sometime in the third quarter.
