Mighty dinosaurs walked to earth with Adam and Eve? Our forebears rode the triceratops like we rode horses? One museum in Eureka Springs, Arkansas might lead you to believe it with their exhibit mixing creationism and dinosaurs for the first time.
The Museum of Earth History brings classic dinosaurs like the T-Rex together for the first time with Adam and Eve in a controversial exhibit located in the middle of the Bible belt. The museum portrays the era not as the classic cretaceous period though. They’ve built a paradise combining the characters from the Bible with the character from Jurassic Park.
Most critics will tell you this is a top-notch dinosaur exhibit. The dinosaur skeletons are good and one might see them in any museum in the world. The real difference is the fact that this museum, like many Americans, continue to disavow the evolution.
Evolution remains a heated debate in the United States as the Kansas state school system wrestles with teaching evolution vs. “intelligent design” which many equate to a renamed creationism. Gallup polls show 45% of Americans believe that creationism is the fact and that the earth is only about 10,000 years old even though much of modern science would appear to at least warrant reinterpretation of the traditional creation theory.
The exhibits intermingles many concepts of earth history with creationism. The exhibits show the creation story in Genesis, the great flood, the Tower of Babel, the ice age and mixing wooly mammoths and creatures from the sea with the dinosaurs and humans too.
Conspicuously absent was Leaky Lucy, the world reknowned Australopithecus afarensis and other forms of early primate most scientists believe were early form of our current human known as homo-sapiens.
