Software company, Vivisimo is teaming up with Discovery.com to provide Discovery.com’s visitors with Vivisimo’s Clustering Engine which is part of the company’s Vivisimo Velocity suite of enterprise search products.
Vivisimo’s Clustering Engine automatically organizes long lists of search results into folders or clusters, grouping similar items together.
“We have always provided Discovery.com visitors with a top-notch search experience, supported by the latest technology,” said Mark Irwin, vice president of operations, Discovery iMedia. “Vivisimo’s Clustering Engine will provide Discovery.com visitors with greater flexibility and choice when exploring the online world of Discovery’s sixteen U.S.-based networks.”
A press release says that as the online gateway to Discovery’s sixteen U.S. networks, Discovery.com extends each network brand with in-depth articles, up-to-date programming guides, interactive features and games, as well as compelling video previews and never-before-seen footage. Discovery.com averages 8.5 million unique viewers and more than 100 million page views per month.
“Many organizations have mature search deployments that index content and return ranked results, but are finding that users are spending too much time sifting through piles of information or missing items that are relevant to their query,” said Raul Valdes-Perez, CEO and co-founder of Vivisimo, Inc. “Early adopters of clustering technology have found the answer to this problem. Our customers consistently receive positive feedback from end users who applaud the speed and relevancy of their searches when offered clustered results.”
Vivisimo’s Velocity Enterprise Search Suite combines search, meta-search and dynamic clustering. The company claims that over 70 organizations use the Clustering Engine as part of their Velocity deployments or to overlay and improve their existing enterprise search investments.
