Velocity Micro Partners With Intel

Velocity Micro, makers of high-end PCs, has agreed to a partnership with Intel to develop Velocity Micro PCs using Intel’s Dual Core processing technology. The systems will feature Intel’s Pentium 4 Extreme Edition 840 processor in Velocity Micro’s new DCX line of computers.

Systems featuring Intel’s Dual Core architecture will be able to support processing speeds of 4.0GHz. According to Velocity Micro, gamers, power users, and those working with digital media can expect to see the highest performance gains from the new partnership.

Randy Copeland, Velocity Micro president and founder, says, “Working closely with Intel’s processor teams, Velocity Micro has been a part of the process for some time. We tested early versions of the Intel Pentium 4 Extreme Edition 840 processor and were amazed by its capabilities, particularly when matched with our liquid cooling solution.”

Expect to see Velocity Micro machines featuring Intel’s technology during the second quarter of 2005. These systems will also include Velocity Micro’s exclusive LiquiCool fluid cooling system (featuring an innovative fluid cooling system that is completely sealed and maintenance-free for the life of the PC).

When the systems are initially shipped, they will feature different processing speeds and prices will be adjusted accordingly. Speeds will include the default 3.2GHz, 3.6GHz, 3.8GHz, and 4.0GHz. Systems containing processors with speeds at 3.6GHz or above will include Velocity Micro’s LiquiCool system.

“As one of the few initial product launch partners for this technology, we are very excited to offer our customers this powerful new processor. It’s perfectly suited for power users who run several applications on their computer simultaneously, and as more games are coded to utilize the multithreading capabilities of this technology, gamers will reach new levels of immersive play,” added Copeland.
