I just had a great Yahoo experience with one of my sites this past week. Within the last 7 days, I’ve gone from being invisible on Yahoo to having top listings on a number of targeted keywords and I thought some of you might find it useful if I explain how it happened.
1. I had read this recent murdok article about a new back-door to search engines.
2. So I wrote a press release, and submitted it to PRweb.com along with the 30 dollars they request for submission. My Press Release is here.
3. Within 24 hours, my prweb press release (with links to my site) started showing up at the top of Yahoo News and Google news for searches on “Offshore Asset Protection” “Offshore Banking” and other related terms. I was at the top for these and related terms all week in the news section of both engines. This brought in traffic immediately.
4. Suddenly the spiders started screaming into my site.
5. I’ve also added and been writing a blog at this site for the past week, syndicated in atom xml. I post new articles daily and ping all the major blog searches by using PingOMatic.com
6. I just noticed that today, less than 1 week later, I am now showing up in the regular Yahoo and MSN searches near the top for many keyword phrases – #1 for “Offshore Asset Protection Blog” and #1 for “Offshore Banking Blog” for another in Yahoo for example. I’ve noticed Google has been combing my pages the past few days, so I hope to see some further results from that soon too.
7. Traffic is starting to increase, advertising revenue too.
My Lessons Learned?: Take the information you learn at www.murdok.org and apply it. Combine a blog with an RSS or XML feed and a Press Release for your site!
