eBay on Pay-Per-View

LodgeNet is offering pay-per-view, in-room video sessions of the popular eBay University training program in more than 250,000 guest rooms across the United States.

Business travelers and other hotel guests are now able to learn how to use eBay to buy and sell, from the comfort of their own hotel rooms.

eBay University travels to more than 30 cities across the country each year, teaching people face-to-face how to buy and sell on eBay. To date, nearly 90,000 people have attended eBay University seminars. The new program is available to hotel guests as an in-room entertainment option, for the same price as a movie. “eBay University — The Basics” teaches people how to bid and buy online, and introduces them to the fundamentals of selling on eBay.

More than 430,000 people in the United States earn a living selling on eBay, and according to a recent AC Nielsen survey, 70 percent of small businesses say that eBay has helped their businesses become more profitable. eBay University teaches people how to find the right opportunities on eBay and how to use the site as a tool to grow their businesses.

“eBay University presents a terrific opportunity for business travelers to learn how to utilize eBay to increase their profitability,” said Rob la Bastide, vice president of programming and content management for LodgeNet. “We’re happy to offer this valuable resource to time-pressed travelers who are looking for every business advantage they can get.”

The in-room video offers four segments of instruction on how to use and navigate eBay more effectively, including bidding and buying, creating a listing, enhancing listings and completing the sale.

“Our traveling eBay University program has been a popular way for people across the country to learn how to buy and sell on eBay,” said Susan Phillips, vice president of marketing for eBay. “Working with LodgeNet will allow eBay University to teach hundreds of thousands of people the endless possibilities available to them through eBay.”
