Building a business with MLM, (multi level marketing) or network marketing, can be both rewarding and profitable. However many fail because they do not know how to handle this type of business.

Choosing a good network marketing program is very important, as with any business venture you must look into the offer carefully before you join. Check out what sort of product it has. For example health, marketing product/products. An MLM without a product is a Pyramid Scheme, and they are illegal. You will not make money or form a solid down line with these.
However with a good product, that people can use and are interested in you can build a very successful team (down line) and make a profitable home based business.
Another point to consider is what sort of matrix system the program is offering. The easiest one to start is a forced matrix. An example of a forced matrix would be x3-forced matrix. When you recruit 3 members your 1st level is filled, your 4th recruit will be forced down to your 1st member’s down line. This is referred to as spillover.
In this way you and your team members will benefit. The forced matrix will work for you too
As you can benefit from your Up line( the person who recruited you), by getting their spillover.
In this way your matrix (team) will build faster.
How your commissions will be handled is also a key factor in your choice of program. Find out:
1. If there is a minimum payout and how hard it would be to reach.
2. Can you request payment or is it automatically sent
3. Do they pay weekly/monthly/other
Many programs have a minimum payout, as this is the most economical way of paying commissions. Make sure this is workable, $20-50 is reasonable. Be sure that you can either ask for payment when the amount is reached or they will send you the amount, monthly/weekly is normal.
Target your promotions to the right group of people. This is where many new network marketers make mistakes. Always target a group that is interested in network marketing, or is specifically interested in the program’s product. Less ads = more exposure and a better click thru for your ad. You can be sure you will be advertising to the right market by the articles and if you see repeat ads for network marketing. When you are ready to advertise check with the publisher if there are any specials, some offer special packages, and always track your ads. Do not rely on spill over and always encourage your recruits not to do so. This is a big reason for failure. If everyone is waiting for spill over then there are no promotions being done and no new recruits. The matrix team is at a standstill. This causes people to get discouraged and leave the team. As people leave the whole system breaks down and fails. Think of spill over as a bonus, not a certainty and as more people promote spill over will come as a bonus.
Work with your down line members. They are your team, their success is your success and you will get paid for any members they recruit. Share your down line building successes and failures with them and help them to become strong team members. Too often up line members forget about their recruits once they have joined and do not give them the support they need. This again leads to people leaving and the break down of the team. Network marketing is very much a team effort. Many fail to realize this and this is one of the main reasons for failure.
Do not give up. Often a person can join a network opportunity only to give up within a month. Businesses take time to build and nobody can expect to be rich in a day. Building a solid team can take a little time and needs to be given at least 3 months, to see some positive results.
