Dear Carey,
Ever since I upgraded my IE to 6.0, freecell won’t work in Windows. As soon as I uninstalled it, it works again, but I’d like to know if there’s a way to fix this problem.
Thanks !!
There does appear to be a lot of people affected by this problem but no word has come from Microsoft officially. Some people have had luck getting Freecell to work by closing down items running in the background one at a time and until Freecell works.
You can do this by pressing CTRL-ALT-DEL one time. The task manager will appear. Click once on any item EXCEPT Explorer and SysTray. As for all the others, select one and click END TASK. Try Freecell. Repeat this process until either Freecell works or you have removed all items except for Explorer and SysTray.
If it starts to work, please let me know which item you had to shut down for it to work properly. If it does not work, just stick with Internet Explorer 5.5 with the latest Service Pack. And feel free to call or e-mail Microsoft technical support.
Thanks for writing!
Carey
