Repairing An Operating System

Question: I have a group of 5 networked computers using Win98. Norton Utilities doesn’t seem to work as well as it should and I heard from one radio computer guy to continue with Norton Antivirus be get System Suite instead for troubleshooting repairs. What would your recommendation be?

Carey’s Answer:

No software can repair your computer. In many cases they just make things worse. Installing software to fix software problems is like trying to stop bleeding by cutting yourself.

My recommendation would be to keep Norton Anti-Virus on all machines and keep it updated to prevent viruses. Then, for any specific problems you are having, use a free tech support service such as http://www.protonic.com, or contact the software manufacturer, or email me here to resolve those particular issues.

Thanks for writing!
