Google has introduced a very cool new feature for android devices, called . The feature is just a “labs” experiment at this point, but it can already do some very interesting things, and has the potential to do much more. The official description is as follows:
Google Goggles lets you search Google using pictures from your camera phones. We take an image as input, and using several image recognition backends (object recognition, OCR, face matching, etc), we return relevant search results.

Google Goggles is a visual search app that can be downloaded from the Android Market. With it, you can do things like take a picture of a painting to get the title and artist, take a picture of a landmark to get related info, etc.
You can even get local business information without even taking a picture. Instead, Google uses GPS and compass data, and it will give you the business information.
Google says that Google Goggles doesn’t work for things like food, cars, plants, and animals…yet. Being a “labs” experiment, there is plenty of room for improvement, and the company seems pretty confident that in the future you will be able to do all kinds of cool things. Examples given are getting a suggestion on a move in a chess game or identifying a plant based on the image of a leaf.
The company says you can get the best results when taking pictures if you hold your phone in “left landscape” mode and press the on-screen shutter button with your right thumb.
