Twitter Community Crowns Official Twitter Babe

Adult star Stoya isn’t the first official “Twitter Babe,” just the first one we were aware of. You can thank, if that’s the kind of thing you’re thankful for, the Twitter community and readers of XCritic.com for the election.

That’s e-Lection, mind you.

The first official Twitter Babe was a young lady named Tori Black, but we weren’t issued a press release about her. (By the by, wouldn’t recommend googling these names unless you’re comfortable with certain things.)

And by things we mean stuff. Dirty stuff.

“We thought we’d turn to Twitter and see who people wanted to see as XCritic’s next Twitter Babe,” writes Christopher Thorne, XCritic.com Editor.  “The results were outstanding with a flood of requests for Stoya.  After winning the 2009 AVN Award for Best New Starlet, Stoya’s immense popularity seems to be growing even bigger!  So [the] Twitter community spoke, and we listened…We’re crowning Stoya as our new Twitter Babe!”

If one were interested, one could follow Stoya, and we’ve heard several other entertainers, on Twitter. The microblogging platform appears to have joined the must-have ranks of MySpace and Facebook among promoters, especially since surpassing Digg.com. Stoya, who also blogs and maintains other social networking accounts, explains Twitter’s appeal lies primarily in its low-pressure brevity.

“Social networking is a great way to stay connected,” she says. “I particularly love to Twitter because micro-blogging allows me to keep up with tons of people simultaneously, without the pressure of constructing well-written blog paragraphs.”

Yes, grammatical perils await us at every corner—unnecessary hyphenation between adverbs and adjectives, for example (see above). So wild and free our participles dangle on the Net.
