Samsung Shows Off Impressive TV Lineup

Samsung’s seeking to make itself the go-to company in the field of on-the-wall entertainment.  At this year’s CES, the manufacturer displayed an array of televisions (incorporating LED, LCD, and plasma technology) that offer truly unique combinations of style and performance.

The fanfare should start with the new Samsung LED 8000 series.  These TVs boast a refresh rate of 240 MHz, and are said to have excellent picture quality.  At a little over an inch thick, they’re meant to be easy to mount anywhere.  And one other thing that may put them ahead of the competition is a new partnership between Samsung and Yahoo.  Networking capabilities and this deal allow the TVs access to things like YouTube, Flickr, and eBay.

Samsung’s Series 7 LCD TVs have the same networking capabilities.  Then, in this era of money consciousness and interest in “green” tech, it’s important to note that they also use about 40 percent less energy than traditional LCD displays.

The conservation-related train of thought next takes us to Samsung’s 8000 series of plasma TVs, which are Energy Star compliant and free of mercury and lead.  Buyers will once again get to enjoy Internet networking capabilities and an easy-to-handle depth of about one inch, as well.

So with all of these handy-dandy televisions to choose from, where are videophiles left in the disc department?  With the first wall-mountable Blu-ray player, perhaps.  Even better: Samsung’s BD-P4600 can stream movies from Netflix and music from Pandora.

These are some interesting offerings, to be sure, and while not all of them are even listed on Samsung’s site just yet, consumer demand seems to be building already.
