Yahoo Plugs A Couple Of Camps

Share

Leave the sleeping bag and mosquito repellant at home, but two camps are coming up that may be worth a look.  Both will take place in the UK, and both have been praised on Yahoo’s Developer Network Blog.

In regards to the first, Sophie Major states, “[T]here’s a repeat of last year’s awesome Brighton Barcamp, on the weekend of 15-16 March.  In addition to the usual BarCamp talks and presentations they’ll be playing a game of locomatrix, holding a Hack for The Open Rights Group and probably playing a game of werewolf or two… All that and a trip to the seaside.”

Get your tickets, if you decide to go, on Monday the 18th.  And if Brighton’s too far away for you to visit, fear not – the BarCamp wiki shows that dozens of other events are scheduled to take place within other countries and continents.

Where the Social Innovation Camp is concerned, your choices are considerably slimmer.  (Actually, you get just two: go or skip.)  But Major writes, “In London on the weekend of 4th-6th April 2008, Social Innovation Camp will bring together some of the best of the UK and Europe’s web developers and designers with people at the sharp end of social problems.  The event will be a cross between Seedcamp and a hackday, with lots of practical stuff going on, and Yahoo! are technical partners.”  Sounds promising, eh?

By the way, we’ll have you note that s’mores are absent from our list of things to not bring.  Just be sure you take enough to share, and you’re sure to have a great time at either (or both) of these camps.
