Turner, Nascar Extend Website Agreement

Share

Do you enjoy watching cars drive in circles – sorry, ovals – 200 times?  Do you enjoy keeping track of the activity online?  If so, you’ll be glad to hear that Turner Broadcasting has extended a contract to keep Nascar.com running.

If not, well . . . this is still a major deal deserving of some attention.  The length of the extension alone is notable – John Consoli reports that the partnership should last through 2014.  And we suspect that a large amount of money is involved, but the terms of the arrangement were not disclosed.Turner, Nascar Extend Website Agreement

Meh.  Guess we’ll just have to return to making fun of things.  One prime target, driving in ovals aside, is Turner.  It seems that a cartoon series was introduced on the Boomerang network on a certain recent holiday.  Odd.  Yet the real problem is that, according to the Turner Pressroom, said holiday was in honor of “Marting Luther King Jr.”

Now, to return to the driving in ovals issue, a quote from comic Alonzo Bodden: “I didn’t understand Nascar until I met some Nascar fans.  You talk to a couple of Nascar fans and you’ll see where a shiny car driving in a circle would fascinate them all day.  And I can make fun of Nascar fans, because if they chase me, I just turn right.”

Fine, fine, send emails if you must.  But on a final business-related note, Turner first took responsibility for Nascar’s official site in 2001.
