If the number of searches for the remaining American Idol finalists is any indication, Blake Lewis is going to upset many a Jordin Sparks fan.
Not that second place is ever a losing position on the show, but the search buzz is clearly in Blake’s corner going into the final hours before the Finale, according to both Hitwise and Yahoo Buzz Index.
Searches for Blake Lewis have been up by 515%, according to Yahoo, compared with a spike of 316% for Jordin. Both are, as expected, most popular with girls under 13.
As Yahoo Buzz’s Erik Gunther points out, if it’s just the girls deciding this contest, then Blake’s a shoe-in, as 70% of searches for him come from women. The split is much more even with Jordin.
The ladies are mainly searching for “Blake Lewis shirtless.”
Sigh.
As for Jordin? Most want to know how tall she is.
But if we were judging just based on last night’s performance (and we are, though I wouldn’t lower myself to vote – I’m a man, dang it), then you’d have to say that Jordin was “off the chain” as they say and that Blake kind of blew it.
It may not be a fair fight though. Just because Jordin’s only 17, it doesn’t mean she’s not already a pro. Her resume is quite impressive with Star Search appearances, America’s Most Talented Kids, and at numerous ballparks to sing the National Anthem.
With the fact that Jordin’s pretty much a ringer in an amateur competition, I’m throwing my unofficial vote to Blake.
