Yahoo, Job Network Partner

Yahoo’s HotJobs division and the Job Network have entered into a partnership designed to aid newspapers in posting employment advertising to the HotJobs Web site, the third largest job site on the Web.

“We believe this agreement will help the nation’s community newspapers protect and enhance their leadership role in recruitment/employment advertising,” said Marc Wilson, president of The Job Network. “Newspapers hold the traditional role of serving their communities’ advertising needs. This alliance should strengthen that role.”

The agreement will allow members of The Job Network to post employment ads to the HotJobs Web site. “Newspapers will be able to offer great combinations of advertising to customers looking to hire employees. The newspapers can sell traditional print, The Job Network and the HotJobs distribution method offered by Yahoo!,” Wilson said.

Under the agreement the Job Network will give recruitment advertisers a larger and broader selection of candidates for their job openings. Access in local markets, along with HotJobs presence and targeting tools, will help job seekers and recruiters find matches on a local level.

Terry Semel, CEO of Yahoo, said,” We believe the local segment is largely untapped and provides significant opportunities to expand audience engagement and subsequently grow local advertising, With our powerful reach, content, technology, local tools and advertising capabilities, Yahoo! is uniquely positioned to seize these opportunities, especially as we continue to enhance our search monetization efforts and to extend our leadership position in graphical advertising.”

“The Yahoo! staff has been excellent to work with,” Wilson said. “They are committed to partnering with newspapers and creating a win-win situation for all concerned.”

The Job Network LLC is owned by TownNews.com, Redmatch North America, and PAGE Co-Op, which is a cooperative buying company owned by many of the nation’s privately held newspapers.
